Star Play
*** A wondrous, galaxy-sized adventure for all ages, STAR PLAY is a storybook romp through the night sky that follows Pleione, the seventh brightest Pleiades sister, as she charts a course through the Milky Way to save the red giant Betelgeuse from going supernova. A Dacha original, this clear-eyed and starry-skied play with music embraces the singular magic of space and the power of storytelling—all while connecting the dots on your favorite constellations (and some you probably haven’t heard of yet, as well). Sparkling brightly for audience members aged 1 to 100 light-years old, STAR PLAY will be visible to stargazers and theatre lovers from parks all over Seattle starting July 23. Opened July 23rd, 2021 Directed by Kate Drummond Original music by Kyle Levien Bring your own chair, blanket, or soft cushion to sit on, and bring the whole family for this 90-minute play! STAR PLAY is Theatre for Young Audiences, and it's safe for adults as well. |
Dears In Headlights
Dacha’s summertime spectacular, DEARS IN HEADLIGHTS, invites audiences back to the drive-in theatre for an evening of movie magic—only this time, with a troupe of live actors instead of a silver screen. Accompanied by an FM radio soundtrack, this fully devised and larger-than-life love letter to classic cinema combines pastiche, clowning, vignettes, and physical theatre to create a playful immersive experience for viewers with and without cars. Whether you’d rather scare yourself silly with a horror movie or laugh along to a rom-com, you’ll be delighted by this original new take on a beloved summer pastime. Intended for audiences aged 10+, DEARS IN HEADLIGHTS asks you to keep your arms, legs, and laughter inside the vehicle at all times. Drive-ins and walk-ups welcome starting July 30. Opening July 30th Directed by Mike Lion Bring your own chair, blanket, or vehicle! Just like a drive-in this play can be watched from camp chairs/ picnic blankets or from inside your. Car seats will offer an extra bit of immersion - we'll bring the action right to your windshield. Please note that vehicle tickets are extremely limited, so if you want to experience this drive-in classic from inside your car, grab your tickets early! |

Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I see both shows in one night?
Yes, if you come to a double feature night!
Look for our "double feature" sticker in the calendar to see when STAR PLAY and DEARS IN HEADLIGHTS are playing in the same location (or a short walk away!).
Please note that for the majority of the run, these shows are touring to separate locations.
If I watch DEARS IN HEADLIGHTS from my vehicle, what will happen to my car?
During DEARS IN HEADLIGHTS, actors will come into light contact with your car, using a similar scope to when you go to the car wash! They may gently touch or lean on your car, spray water on your windshield, or place a couple of props on your hood.
How many people does a "vehicle ticket" cover?
A vehicle ticket covers the car, and anyone in it! So, you can purchase one (1) vehicle ticket and bring a pal in your passenger seat, or friends in the back. Please note that the show is designed to be viewed with the car facing forward, although if you have a large group you may also park backwards and watch from your trunk.
(If you're going to make a real clown-car out of it, we would of course appreciate any extra donation!)
What does "sliding scale" mean? Are there different experiences?
We ticket all our shows on a "sliding scale," which means there are different tiered price options, and there is always a pay-what-you-can option! There is no difference in experience between the tiers -- they are just for you to identify the price that works best for you.
