GIRLS SCHOOL MEMORY PLAY
created/written by Donovan Olsen
directed by Leah Sainz Jones

A workshop reading
playing 11/17-11/20 at West of Lenin

Get Your Tickets Now!
Girls School Memory Play is a playful, borderline ridiculous examination of the socialization of gender set in a rigidly single-sex school. A trans protagonist looks back on their time at an all-girl middle and high school with a mix of love, anguish, and laughing disbelief. Through the lens of coming out/processing internalized transphobia-- and through connection with past classmates with similar experiences, we revisit moments of adolescence and the formation of identity.

AN INCOMPLETE LIST OF ALL THE THINGS I'M GOING TO MISS WHEN THE WORLD IS NO LONGER:
written/composed by Dante Green
directed by Nansi Dwendi

A new musical
playing 1/27–2/12 at Theatre Off Jackson

An Incomplete List Of All The Things I'm Going To Miss When The World Is No Longer: Is an electro-synth pop musical at the end of the world. Following a global announcement of the exact time earth, as we know it, will cease to exist, a community of young queer friends and lovers decide the only reasonable thing would be to gather together for one last rager. This 80-minute musical invites you into a glance at the last party on earth — interweaved through a retrospective of cherished and tragic memories — to celebrate and mourn the delights and deceptions of the human experience.

DICE KEEPER – title TBA
directed by Mike Lion

A new iteration of our innovative Dice format
playing 3/31–4/23 at Base: Experimental Arts + Space

Dice Keeper is a new iteration of our innovative Dice Format, involving more variability in the show theme/design each night, which the cast encounters in real time! The audience gets to watch the actors responding to new circumstances and challenges instituted by the figure of the Dice Keeper (for those familiar with Taskmaster, it is a major source of inspiration). Dice Keeper builds on the gameshow vibes of some past dices and shows like , but adds in the thematic exploration and cohesion of Dice: Romeo & Juliet. It's a mix of high/low art that is very much on brand for Dacha and for the dice series.

SOMETIMES THE RAIN, SOMETIMES THE SEA
written by Julia Izumi
directed by Kate Drummond

A charming twist on a well-known story
playing 7/14–8/6 outdoors in Seattle with transfers to Port Townsend and Yakima

“The Little Mermaid is Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved and well-known fairy tale, which is why it’s not the story our friend, Dolan, is going to tell you today. No, he’s going to tell you the story about a Little Rain Cloud who falls in love with a human. They are not the same story at all, he swears.”
Sometimes the Rain, Sometimes the Sea is a lovely and haphazard collision of multiple stories, framed as a sort-of retelling of The Little Mermaid. It is a beautiful and challenging read on modern relationships, whether we are the heroes in our own stories, and what love really looks like, all spun within a nostalgic and magical and silly container. It is irreverent and unapologetic in its chaos, but lands on lovely poignant moments about why we tell the stories that we tell. Plus, it has a great twist!
